Welcome To The Jungle

Sitting here on the bus, waiting to see the skyline. You know the one. The skyline you’ve seen a thousand times in a thousand movies. THE skyline.

I feel like all of us on the bus are, like, in a band together or something. I mean, we haven’t talked to each other or anything, but we all have one thing in common. A common goal: New York City. And it makes me feel like we’re comrades or something. I see the skyline and I want to clutch a stranger’s hand and say There it is! Because it thrills me every time.

There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who don’t give a shit about New York City, want nothing to do with it, and those who read about it growing up, who dream about it, fantasize about walking along its storied streets. I have and always will be of the latter group. You can’t be indifferent about New York City. It demands your vehement opinion. Love it. Throw your arms around it and embrace it. Or want nothing to do with it, but don’t insult it with your indifference.

Hello, old friend.

If you're interested, the live blogging went on all weekend. You can read all about what went down over on He Said/She Said.
